Datawind UbiSlate 7C+ Tablet Shows Up Online For Rs.5,999

DataWind, the maker of India’s low-cost Aakash tablet has launched a new tablet in the Indian market, the UbiSlate 7C+. The tablet has been spotted online on Snapdeal and is available for a price of Rs.5,999. It is being said that the specifications of the upcoming Aakash 3 tablet will be quite similar to the UbiSlate 7C+.
Coming to the specifications of the UbiSlate 7C+, the tablet sports a 7-inch capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels and is powered by a 1GHz Cortex A8 processor paired with 512MB of RAM. Running on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, the UbiSlate 7C+ gets 4GB of internal storage, which can be expanded by up to 32GB using a micro-SD card.
The tablet misses out on a rear camera, but offers a VGA front facing camera. The UbiSlate 7C+ offers voice calling and supports 2G/EDGE networks. Sadly, the tablet fails big time when it comes to other connectivity options as apart from EDGE, it only supports Wi-Fi, while there is no support for Bluetooth and GPS, which can certainly be a deal-breaker for some.

The UbiSlate 7C+ houses a 3,200mAh battery, which is rated to give an up time of about 4 hours on Wi-Fi. The tablet is in-stock on Snapdeal and the website says that once ordered, the tablet will be dispatched within 5 working days and the users can pay credit/debit card, Netbanking or Cash on delivery.

The new tablet from Datawind comes amidst the raising concers about it’s inability to offer Aakash tablets in the country. This fact was highlighted by the HRD Minister M M Pallam Raju recently, but was later dismissed by IT and Telecom Minister Kapil Sibal who said that the Aakash tablet project is “alive and kicking”.
