It seems that Samsung is planning to launch another entry-level budget Android smartphone in the Indian market, as the Samsung Galaxy Y Plus has now been listed on the Samsung India website. Though there is no information about the pricing or availability of the smartphone as of now, but since the smartphone is up on Samsung’s website, the launch may well be near.
Running on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, the Samsung Galaxy Y Plus is a dual-SIM smartphone and is powered by an 850MHz processor. The smartphone features a 2.8-inch TFT display with a resolution of 240 x 320 (QVGA) pixels. The budget Android smartphone measures 104.9 x 57.9 x 12.98mm and weigh-in at just 96 grams.
Other specifications of the Samsung Galaxy Y Plus include a 2 megapixel rear camera and 4GB of internal storage along with a micro-SD card slot for storage expansion by up to 32GB. The connectivity options on the device include 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS. The upcoming smartphone also packs-in a 1,200mAh battery, which according to Samsung, can give a talk-time of about 5-6 hours.
Samsung Galaxy Y Plus will be added to Samsung’s existing lineup of budget Android smartphone in India which include Galaxy Music, Galaxy Pocket, Galaxy Music Duos, Galaxy Chat, Galaxy Young and the Galaxy Fame.
At present, the entry-level smartphone segment is dominated by Indian manufacturers like Micromax, Lava, Karbonn etc., who offer much better specifications for their smartphones in the budget segment. It won’t be easy for Samsung to generate sales for the Samsung Galaxy Y Plus, considering how intense the fight in this segment is.
