World’s largest chip-maker, Intel has
announced that it will unveil the 4th generation of it’s Core
Processors, named Haswell on June 4th at the Computex technology Show in Taiwan.
In a statement issues by the company, it said,
" In approximately 3,337,200,000,000,000 nanoseconds, Intel will reveal all there is to know about the highly anticipated 4th generation Intel Core processor family."
Intel has already started shipping the new processors to manufacturers, which will power the upcoming range of laptops, ultrabooks and PCs.
The new processor from Intel is expected
to bring a significant upgrade in terms of power efficiency, and are
touted to be 41 percent more power efficient than the current generation
of processors. Thus, expect the devices powered by Haswell range of
processors, to give a much higher battery life than what is available in the market at present.
It’s being said that the first series of
Haswell processors from Intel will be quad-core processors which will
be used to power high-end devices, but later, these chips will make
their way to the more affordable devices as well.
Last month, at a special media event in New Delhi,
Intel shared it’s plans for 2013 and mentioned that the 4th generation
of Core processors are targeted at about 10 watt design power, without
compromising on the performance. According to the company, 4th generation of Core processors will enable true all-day battery life, representing the most significant battery life capability improvement in Intel history.
Intel also disclosed that
the upcoming range of processors will be able to deliver up to 9 hours
of continuous battery life. One of the most interesting announcements of
the event was that Intel expects ultra books with a thickness of less than 10mm in the near future, all thanks to it’s 4th generation Haswell processors.
