An upcoming device from Acer, which goes by the name Acer W3-810-1600
made a brief appearance at the popular online store Amazon and was
pulled down soon after. Still, the time gap was enough for the folks
over at PC World to take a screenshot of what might be the world’s first small screen Windows 8 tablet.
All the Windows 8 tablets that have been
released till now, sport a 10-inch or bigger screen size, only because
Windows 8 was large-screen friendly. However, seeing the popularity of
smaller tablets like the Nexus 7, Microsoft tweaked the OS a little and
made it suitable for smaller displays as well.
Just recently, the minimum
resolution required for Windows 8 tablets was dropped from 1366 x 768 to 1024 x 768, making way for smaller-sized Windows 8 tablet.
Coming to the Acer W3-810-1600, the leaked specs sheet suggests that the tablet will feature an 8.1-inch display with a
resolution of 1,280 x 800 pixels and will be powered by a dual-core
Intel Atom processor. Also, the average
battery life on the tablet is slated as 8 hours.
The tablet will measure at 8.62 x 5.31 x
0.45 inches and will weigh in at about 1.1 pounds. The specs sheet
lists a 2 megapixel rear camera, while there is no mention about the
front camera on the device.
The Acer W3-810-1600 will be running on the full-fledged Windows 8 OS and not the lighter, Windows RT.
As seen the image, the expected price of
the tablet is about $379.99 in the United States, roughly translating
to about Rs.20,500 in India, which seems justified, considering the
tablet runs a full-blown version of windows 8.
We hope to learn more about the tablet in the coming weeks and not mention, we’ll keep you updated as well
