In a shift of strategies Blackberry has
announced that they will be launching the BBM app on Android and iOS for
free this summer. Available to users running iOS 6 and Android 4.0 ICS
or higher, the free BBM app will bring the magic of BBm messaging to
every handset.
On the outset, however, only the
messaging and group features will be accessible for outside users, but
by the end of the year, the company plans to bring about the coveted BBM
voice, BBM channels, screen sharing and video capabilities.
Rumors of Blackberry (Previously Research In Motion)
following this path have been around for years, and with an official
statement form the company chief it looks like it is done.
Blackberry has also announced Channels.
BBM Channels is a new way for BBM users to connect with the businesses,
brands, celebrities and groups they are passionate about.
