So the rumors were indeed true! Indian smartphone maker Micromax has just launched the A115 Canvas 3D smartphone
in India at a price of Rs.9,999. The smartphone will be available
across all leading retail outlets in India from the first week of May,
2013.
The highlight of the smartphone is it’s
5-inch 3D display, which doesn’t require any sort of glasses to view
content in 3D. According to Micromax, this should give the users
a ”hassle free rick life like experience.”
The Micromax A115 Canvas 3D
is powered by a 1GHz dual-core processor, but the amount of RAM on the
smartphone hasn’t been specified yet. However, rumors suggest that the
smartphone comes with 1GB of RAM. Running on Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean, the A115 Canvas 3D gets dual-SIM card slots as well, but there is no information about 3G connectivity on the smartphone.
For shutterbugs, the device gets a 5
megapixel camera at the back along with a 0.3 megapixel camera at the
front. A single camera at the back means that the smartphone won’t be
able to shoot 3D videos, but will only be able to render images in 3D.
Micromax hasn’t yet specified the
internal storage on the device, but says that the A115 Canvas 3D will
support a micro-SD card slot for storage expansion. For connectivity,
the smartphone gets Bluetooth v4.0 and Wi-Fi. The A115 Canvas 3D comes
packed with a 2,000mAh battery, which according to the company, should
be able to give up to 4.5 hours of talk time.
The A115 Canvas 3D come pre-loaded
with some 3D games, and Micromax has also installed Micromax 3D space on
the device, giving the users access to 3D videos and other 3D content.
While you may feel that the hardware specifications
are nothing spectacular, but the 3D-tag which the smartphone sports at
it’s price point, can be a big enough reason for it to sell in large
numbers in the market, like the Canvas 2 and the Canvas HD.
