YouTube for Windows Phone 8 is now receiving a major update, which according to Microsoft, will allow the app to utilize Windows Phone 8 features.
With the latest update, users will be
able to Pin videos, playlists, channels, and even search queries to
Start as Live Tiles for fast access. The Live tile will flip to show the
latest video from the channel user has subscribed to, or the most
popular one.
The update also brings a new playlist
design, allowing users to easily access their videos using
a touch-friendly filmstrip. Users will also be able to listen to the
audio, even if the screen is locked. Adding more functionality to the
app, the update brings the ability to share the videos via email or
text.
Microsoft now also enables the users to
pin the YouTube app to kid’s corner, which will allow parents to limit
the content their kids can watch, based on YouTube Safety Mode settings
they configure.
If you’re a Windows Phone 7.x user, there’s good news for you as well, as Microsoft has announced that an update for Windows Phone devices running on the older operating system is also in the works, which will be released soon.
