Last week, the upcoming Acer Iconia W3, an 8.1-inch Windows 8 tablet,
appeared at an online retail store but the listing was pulled down soon
after. Now, Acer’s general director of it’s Russian office, Denis
Kutnikov has confirmed that the tablet will see an official announcement on June 4.
The tablet, which is expected to run on a full-blown version of Windows 8, will be the first small-screen Windows 8 tablet, and will take on the likes of Apple iPad Mini.
Talking of specifications, the Acer Iconia W3
is expected to feature an 8.1-inch display with a resolution of 1,280 x
800 pixels and will be powered by a 1.8GHz dual-core Intel
Atom Z2760 processor paired with 2GB of RAM. Also, the average battery
life on the tablet is slated as 8 hours.
The tablet will measure at 8.62 x 5.31 x 0.45 inches and will weigh in at about 1.1 pounds. The leaked specifications suggest a 2 megapixel rear camera, while there is no mention about the front camera on the device.
As seen in the listing, the tablet will
be priced at $379.99 in the Uniteed States, roughly translating to about
Rs.20,500 India, which seems quite justifies, considering the
smartphone runs the full version of Windows 8.
It is being rumored that Acer will offer
some accessories, including a physical QWERTY keyboard along with the
Iconia W3, which will allow the users to place the tablet, and allow the
case to be used as a stand.
