Nokia X, which is just a little over a month old in India has already received its first ever price cut. Launched at Rs 8599, the phone is now officially available for Rs 7729. This is almost a Rs 1000 drop, a huge drop considering the phone is a budget device.
Nokia X was Nokia's attempt to take on Android and the phone combined two of the best operating systems, Android and Windows. The hybrid X system gave Nokia a lot more freedom to experiment and integrate multiple markets. Nokia promised users access to third party apps and stores with the Nokia X platform.
However, the phone did not take off as expected. The lackluster specifications coupled with high price (relatively) made the Nokia X a back-bencher when it came to devices. Also, most Indian manufacturers offered the pure Android experience with double the hardware strength and at the same price of Nokia. Nokia X failed to be the revolutionary phone it was expected to be.
